Rosevean Place

Moving-image, sound design, and video editing, 2019.

A place existing within a community. The piece evokes a sense of comfort and chaos, whilst drawing the viewer into the chaotic and lived in space.

Development

The most challenging part of the project was learning and experimenting new ways to lure the audience into the space, without the usage of music, that could manipulate a sense of feeling. Instead, I decided to use collected sound recordings of the location, and reveal parts of the place that you might typical try to avoid. I also focused on editing, and allowing the rhythm of the piece to become a stronger pull, in engaging the audience, whilst still portraying the busy yet comforting space.
